Chapter 2 — Giving to God's Vision
300 BALLOONS
FOR JESUS

When “The Time is Now” church building fund was first launched, God challenged me to step out of my comfort zone to do my best to give, regardless of the amount.

Back then, I was a student with little money, so I had to be creative. Beyond just taking the donation card and asking my relatives, teachers and friends, I also printed over 300 pages of balloon sculpture manuals to learn, so that I could sell balloon sculptures to raise money at one of the Hope carnival fairs.

As a student district, we also brainstormed ways we could save money to give to the building fund. That was when we came up with the idea of eating Gardenia bread together as a group after service. Instead of complaining about it, we were actually excited that we had found a way to save our allowance without going hungry. We didn’t think much of it, we just wanted to give our best to God.

God sustained us, and provided me with a community to live out our faith together. Through this, I learnt that if we want to serve Him, He will always provide. But the question is this: Do we want to be used by God to build His church? We don’t need much, but as we yield to Him, God’s grace empowers us to do His work for His glory.

WE DIDN’T THINK
MUCH OF IT;
WE JUST WANTED
TO DO OUR BEST
TO GIVE TO GOD.
